4. Common Warning signs or false information

Use these as quick red flags:

• Emotional Language:

Posts that try to scare, shock, or anger you

• No clear source:
  If you can't tell who wrote it, be careful
  
  

• Poor grammar/odd formatting:

Fake posts often look sloppy

• Claims of "secret information":

Phrases like:
"The media won't tell you this!"

"Doctors don't want you to know!"

• No date or outdated info:
  Old information gets recirculated to look new.
  
  

• Overly dramatic images:
  Photos may be edited, taken out of context, or from a different event.

5. How to check if something is true

• STOP before sharing.

• CHECK the source

Ask:

-Is this a reliable news organization?
-Is this a random page or a trustworthy outlet?

• READ beyond the headline. Headlines can be misleading.

• LOOK UP the story elsewhere. If it's real news, more than one reliable source will report it.

• CHECK the date. Many false claims use old articles.
